Skog & Mark

Nøgne Ø Skog & Mark is a limited edition release, brewed after a request from Bent Borge Hansen, the kitchen chef at Sundvolden Hotel, who asked Nøgne Ø to brew a "real Norwegian" beer with local ingredients for his hotel. The result is a 6.5% a ale spiced with nettles, lavender, lovage and fresh spruce shots.

First appearance is a quite hazy straw yellow beer with small creamy white head, what a perfect beer to be drinking while fixing the Christmas tree considering the ingredients it has. Very big aroma of pine, citrus, pale malt, herbs and some grass tones. First impressions are wow, I love this beer and its forest character.

Medium body with a medium carbonation and the flavour was similar to the aroma, dominated by forest, pine resin, spices and lemon zest. Very fresh flavours with some coriander and the bitterness was just right and for those who like the smell or pine needles and pine resin this beer will be a big hit. Can just imagine drink this beer after just coming out of a sauna in the Finnish woods where my relatives have a cottage by the lake.
