Imperial Stout

Nøgne Ø Imperial Stout is black as night with a small rich brown head. The nose is filled with heaps of chocolate and roasted coffee with light vanilla and licorice notes. Tons of roasted malt, dark chocolate and some smoke, this aroma is big and roasty with notes of dark sugar, chocolate, and hops. Full bodied. There is little to none of the 9% alcohol this beer has in the taste which is very rich, full flavoured and proof of how the balance in a great craft brew should be.

The taste is extremely rich with a nice bitter after-taste, with the roasted malt delivering more coffee character than it does chocolate. Nøgne Ø Imperial Stout has a very appealing roastiness and chocolate nature to this brew that I like and usually fall for with Imperial Stouts. The taste is of bitter dark chocolate, coffee, licorice and sweet molasses with a dry finish. Overall this is a super delicious beer and most likely my favourite and Nr.1 beer from Nøgne Ø.
